Your students will soon be changing school. The local community is changing. The whole world is changing.
Time for a Change equips children with skills they need to build a brighter future.
Time for a Change aims to instill enterprise skills in young people to create a strong supply of local entrepreneurs, working with local employers to gain valuable life skills, raise money for charity and have lots of fun! The ability to work as part of a team, listening skills, communication, time management, financial awareness and risk taking are just some of the skills that are developed during the life of the project.
The project is currently funded up until March 2011 by the Northwest Regional Development Agency. The programme is aimed at Key Stage 2 students, mainly those in years 5 and 6 and is based around environmental and social issues. It involves workshops about enterprise delivered by Education Business Plus, as well as a challenge set to the year group. Each school is linked with at least one person from a local business. The challenge involves the children working in small groups to raise money to buy something for a community in a developing country. The teams are organised as a charity, with each child having their own specific job role. At the end of the project Judges select a winning team and runner up.
Each school is provided with a range of resources to complete the programme including team diaries, teacher guide and a set of educational computer games designed to enable students to explore the environmental and global issues raised in the programme. Please visit the Educational Games section to view the demonstations of these exciting and innovative games.
If a child progresses to one of the High Schools linked to the project, they can continue their work in years 7 and 8.
